What it does

Hand it a VIN and it returns the vehicle: year, make, model, trim, body style, engine, transmission, drivetrain, curb weight and seating. Hand it a license plate and a state and it finds the VIN first, then does the same. The safety and anti-theft equipment carriers give discounts for — anti-lock brakes, airbags, traction and stability control — is pulled into its own section instead of being buried in two hundred specs, because that is the part that changes the premium. It also checks the VIN's own check digit before looking anything up, so a misread or transposed VIN is caught in front of the client rather than after a failed quote.
